Sessions Chapter 39 - Wherever You Will Go

If I could turn back time
I'll go wherever you will go
If I could make you mine
I'll go wherever you will go

University - 56 Mason Loop, Taylor rental: 10 AM

Nic quickly checked Rayne's car before heading across the thick grass. Mud oozed up with each step until he reached the walkway and taking the steps in two long strides knocked on the door before entering.

Sessions Chapter 38 - Mockingbird

Here we stand
Somewhere in between this moment and the end
Will we bend?
Or will we open up and take this whole thing in?

South Beach - Stanfield Residence: between 6 and 8 AM

Cooper awakened disoriented and exhausted. Dealing with Nate's arrogance, Eric's quiet defiance the previous night he'd struggled not to lose his failing patience. Harmony's wide eyed trepidation at the chaos along with the raging storm had prevented him from sleeping and it hadn't helped that the opposite side of the bed had been empty, a situation he intended to rectify soon. Enforcing his parental authority that morning, and that had been a lot harder than he expected, insisting the twins come directly home from school and scrambling to find Ericca to watch Hugs, Cooper headed downtown to meet with Beth.

Sessions Chapter 37 - Lady So Divine

On a highway, just today
That's where I saw you
It was music from a distance

"Recalculating..."

Blade punched off the GPS and sat in his car and looked at the restaurant. It wasn't what he expected. Iron Gate, he'd thought that might be something private, some private club he'd have to crash, but it was just an Italian place on the bay with some kind of gate in the middle. She was here, that was the same car he'd shoved out of the mud, and he didn't see any other cars. Didn't anticipate he would...Cooper wasn't here.

Sessions Chapter 36 - Some Voices

It's like a hurricane inside her
It's like a hurricane inside her room
It's like a hurricane inside her mind

University - Stanfield Rental: 5 PM

Rayne pulled up hard in front of Wyatt's rental and sat there in the car while the rain slid down the windshield and the engine ticked and cooled. Someone had already moved into the place across the street, windows lighted against the late afternoon wet chilly gloom threw that yellow light into the puddles in the drive where her car used to be. It had been her place. It wasn't now. She didn't have a place now. The long drive had drained some of her anger and she waited and watched the place where her brother lived and morosely considered how he was likely to react when she marched up to the door and announced that Gemma was the boogey man after all because Cooper gave Toad a contract. Cautiously condescending. Kind. Maybe he'd ask her if she'd been drinking, as if there was any doubt he'd ask that.

Sessions Chapter 35 - If Looks Could Kill

Sandy Point - The Rusty Pelican

S35-001

Slim watched the two of them, Gemma sitting at the table arms folded, slender legs crossed, and her body language screaming. She toyed nervously at the long strands of her jet black hair while Coop sat at the opposite side glaring, arms casually folded and legs stretched out. He steadily tapped the toe of his heavy boot against the chair leg, aggravated and on edge.

Focusing on her, Slim got into it. "I'm going to cut to the chase. We aren't giving you a blank check. Name your terms. What's the price for you to keep your mouth shut?"

Sessions Chapter 34 - Secrets

So tell me what you want to hear
Something that were like those years
Sick of all the insincere
So I'm gonna give all my secrets away

Sandy Point - Ed's Pier 7 PM

Rayne set her Fender next to stage along with Toad's. The lights sputtered and flashed and went dark and came back again, and Jimmy's attempts at some kind of sound check sputtered and flashed and went dark right along with the lighting. "Shit amps." Jimmy walked around looking at them, kicking cables aside. It was a stage crammed into one end of a pier set up for beach party music. Vince hadn't showed. Adrian was sulking. Jimmy was livid, deep into every freaking detail and finding fault with everything.

Sessions Chapter 33 - Drag the Sunrise Down

There's no light, and there's no sound,
Bet you wanna drag the sunrise down
You tell me it feels like you're running in circles
And all the time they keep raising the hurdles
Out of sight, and under ground
You're dreaming you're gonna drag the sunrise down

"He's outside." Melinda shut the door and looked at her warily. It had been a long drive from South Beach, raining all the way, and Beth had that dinner date tonight looming. She hadn't slept. She was nervous. She was irritable. She was scared. She was going somewhere she should not go to open something she should keep closed. And the door was open and it was too late to run away.
